Summary: Sirius needs something soft and cuddly to sleep with
AN I found the teddy when shopping with my sister so this is semi dedicated to her.
Sirius was grinning like an idiot when Remus arrived at the Potter's. Remus knew that meant he wasn't really happy. Sirius never looked like an idiot unless he was hiding what was really going on inside of him. Remus crossed the room and hugged his friend. "I'm glad you're free Pads."
"Aw, come on, Moony. Don't get all mushy on me," Sirius chuckled airily. However, he did hug Remus back a little tighter than normal.
"Kitchen! Now!" James shouted as he entered the room. "Mum made chocolate pudding 'in honor of her new son' don't look at me like that Pads, they were her words."
Remus watched as Sirius' grin faltered slightly. "I'm always up for chocolate pudding. How about you Sirius Potter?" Remus nudged Sirius gently with his shoulder. Sirius nodded and smiled, with a bit more sincerity, following Remus and James into the kitchen.
As the pudding was eaten and Peter arrived and the friends fell into their easy Marauder rhythm, Sirius' false grin dissolved into a true and warm smile.
"Damnit, damnit, fuck, fuck, bloody buggering fuck!" Sirius growled as he dug through his trunk. "Where is he?"
"Where is who?" Remus asked, pausing as he passed by Sirius' room. Indulging in the view of Sirius in nothing but the loose-fitting, low-slung sleep pants.
"No one!" Sirius responded with a jump. "Oh, Moony, don't sneak up on me."
"Sorry," Remus smirked. "So, where is who?"
"Remember when I told you something that no one else knows after I found out about your furry little problem?"
"Mr. Fuzzy Face? You lost your teddy?"
"Fuck, Moony!" Sirius growled, jumping across the room and throwing his hand over Remus' mouth. "No one knows but you! Could you please keep it down?"
Remus moved Sirius' hand. "Sorry, Pads," Remus said, grinning. "Do you think you left him back at Hogwarts?"
"No I'm sure I had him when my mum locked… when I fell asleep in the dun.. basement the night before I left. I must have left him there."
"You think you…"
"I must have." Sirius tried to act like a sixteen-year-old who'd lost his teddy and not a three-year-old who'd lost his best friend. "Oh well," he sighed. "I was too old to have him around anyway."
Remus, in his infinite knowledge of Sirius moods, could tell that Sirius was once again putting up a false brave front. He reached up and squeezed Sirius' shoulder. "Are you going to be alright tonight?"
When Remus squeezed his shoulder, Sirius suddenly remembered he was shirtless and wearing nothing more than his loose plaid sleep pants. He shrugged Remus hand off, knowing that if Remus' hand stayed on his bare skin, Sirius wouldn't be able to keep his other secret. "Moony, I'm sixteen. I can sleep without a toy." Sirius cleared his throat and tried to put on a more convincing facade. "So, where do the Potters have you holed up tonight?"
"Well, Wormtail got the guestroom. I'm on the fold-out sofa in the library. Prongs thought I'd enjoy sleeping with all the books."
Sirius chuckled and smiled a real smile. "Just so I know where to go when I need to pounce you awake in time for breakfast in the morning!"
Remus grinned and rolled his eyes trying, and failing, to fake annoyance. "Good night, Padfoot." Remus turned and headed for the door, Sirius let his gaze fall to Remus' arse as he walked away.
Remus woke up to an earthquake about an hour after he fell asleep.
"Moony, please wake up."
It took Remus a moment to realize the earthquake was named Sirius Black. "No, 'M sleepin'" Remus grumbled into his pillow.
"Moony, pleeease!" Sirius whined.
Remus yawned, stretched, budged over and held up the covers to let Sirius climb in. Sirius did. Sirius moved as closely as possible to Remus and rest his head on the other boy's shoulder.
"What's wrong, Pads?" Remus whispered into Sirius' silky black hair.
"Can't sleep. I miss my teddy bear. Can I sleep with you?"Sirius nuzzled Remus' shoulder as he spoke, causing Remus to shiver. "You're shivering, Moony. Are you cold?" Sirius snuggled closer, a feat Remus hadn't thought was a possibility.
"No, actually, I'm hot." Sirius backed off a bit at Remus' comment. "You're fine though, Pads," Remus responded hastily. "I'm warm but not uncomfortable or anything."
Sirius nuzzled closer again. Remus prayed to whatever higher power might be listening, to keep Sirius from discovering just how turned on he was.
"Sure you don't mind?" Sirius asked, his breath tickling Remus' neck and his hand grazing Remus' belly.
"I'm sure, Pads."
Sirius wasn't sure if he was feeling extra bold or extra vulnerable, but he leaned closer and pressed a kiss to the corner of Remus' mouth. Remus turned his head quickly and bumped noses with Sirius. Sirius moved forward and pressed a kiss full on Remus' mouth. "Do you…. mind… this?"
Sirius gave Remus another gentle kiss. "What has you confused, Moony?"
"Sirius, I don't want to be some temporary Mr. Fuzzy Face comfort item for you. I can't pretend I haven't wanted this for as long as I can remember, but I don't think I could handle having this and then having you forget it in the morning."
Sirius pulled Remus into a sitting position and looked him square in the eyes. "Remus, I know the timing is a little less than perfect, but I want this. Have for a long time now." Sirius closed the space between them and kissed Remus deeply. He broke their lips and rested his forehead against the other boy's. "You aren't a temporary Mr. Fuzzy Face. Mr. Fuzzy Face was a Moony place holder." Sirius closed their lips again and laid Remus back on the bed.
